Myelography, which is often termed as a myelogram, is a radiographic imaging process that is done to inspect the spine and the outer membrane surrounding it. The process involves the injection of a radiographic contrast media or dye into the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the spine.
What does a myelogram detect?A myelogram is an imaging procedure that examines the relationship between your vertebrae and discs, through your spinal cord, nerves and nerve roots. It determines whether there’s anything actively pressing against your spinal cord, nerves or nerve roots, causing pain in your back or numbness and weakness in your arms and/or legs.
